Top-Selling Art Prints in My Shop and the Stories Behind Them
It is a great feeling when you buy a gorgeous art print, frame it and get it on the wall in your space, but there is one thing that will make it even better…when you feel like the story or meaning behind it really resonates with you. I want to share a few of the best selling art prints in my shop, and the stories behind them.
Lakeside | Art Print
First of all, let’s start with my print - Lakeside. A tranquil lake scene, created to make you feel a sense of calm when you look at it. The inspiration for this piece was from a photograph taken in Canada at Banff National Park and it came to fruition when I was deep in the sketchbook phase of my practice, drawing landscapes from all over the world and really stretching myself creatively. I made this piece using gouache and coloured pencil in one of my sketchbooks and when i’d finished it, it was instantly one of those piece that I thought “i’d quite like this on my wall” and it turns out a few of you have thought the same!
Lakeside really would work in any room in your home, but I think it is best suited to a kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom,. As I mentioned earlier, it is the perfect print to add a sense of calm, with the cool blues and greens paired with the sense of a balmy summers afternoon spent by the water.
For travel lovers, wild swimming go-ers and nature fanatics alike I do think this print is an all round safe option if you’re looking for a meaningful and unique gift idea.
Summer Time Feast | Art Print
Then there was Summer Time Feast - the perfect Mediterranean themed table full of delicious goodies. A print that’s sure to make you hungry! This was the first of my foodie prints series and after adding it to my portfolio and taking it to a market it was an instant hit!
Using a colour palette that is warm an inviting and choosing a selection of food and packaging that has interesting textures and pattern is something that i’m trying to incorporate into my art prints recently. I love it when you can look at a print for a while and still find new details!
In terms of styling, I think this print would look best in a dark wood frame, in keeping with the warm tones in the artwork. It will easily lend itself to being put in a kitchen, dining or utility room but I don’t see why it couldn’t be in any room! Who doesn’t want to wake up and see spaghetti?! I can think of worst things to see first thing in the morning!
Summer Time Feast is the perfect print to buy for the foodie lover in your life!
Perelló Olives | Art Print
We alllll love an olive or two right?! This graphic style art print is eye-catching, bold and playful and the ideal addition if you want to add some fun and colour to your walls!
This piece features the iconic Perelló olives, inspired by the metal tin and its fun colouring and lettering. A more graphic illustration compared to some of my more detailed pieces, it focuses more on pattern and bold block colours which really make a statement on the wall!
I think a simple black or white frame would work best for this piece, to keep a simple, clean look which fits with the overall style of the piece.
Illustrated Map of Cornwall | Art Print
My Illustrated map of Cornwall, is the perfect gift for keeping memories of your holidays in Cornwall alive.
I have always had a special place in my heart for Cornwall, so it felt only right to add an illustrated map to my collection. From holiday-ing there every summer while growing up, to then going on to study Illustration at Falmouth University in Cornwall, it’s been a huge part of my life and a very special place to me and many other people too!
Maps are such a fun way to encapsulate entire places at one time while still being able to highlight key locations and important places. Illustrated maps can be commissioned for custom orders too! My Cornwall map would be perfect the perfect addition to a bedroom, bathroom or hallway, giving that sense of calm with the blue background. You could even add it to your holiday home by the coast for that added personal touch for anyone that visits!
Spanish Garden | Art Print
And last, but by no means least is an oldie but a goodie - Spanish Garden. This one has been a firm fave from the beginning giving an instant uplifting feeling with bright and bold colours. The main thing that people say about this print is that it feels like summer and makes them want to be on holiday. If you can imagine yourself here too then you get what they mean!
This piece was painted almost entirely with gouache, and then a few small details and touch ups were added in digitally. I love that you can see the textures of the brush marks and the different shades within the paint too.
This print would be amazing in any room, anywhere you want to add a splash of colour and bring a space to life!
